Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on
April 25 1969 in Katy, Texas, Her mother Kjellfridirene (Andreassen) is a
Norwegian-born former nurse and midwife, with Norwegian, Kven (Finnish), and
Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss engineer.
They were married in 1963. Renee has a brother called Drew Zellweger, a
marketing executive who was born on the 15th of February in 1967. While working
in the drama club, Renee became interested in acting. In Austin she also took
an acting course and decided to explore acting as a career. She wanted to be an
actor following her graduation, however Hollywood can be hard to get into.
Renee decided not to quit Texas and auditioned in Houston to be cast in roles.
While on the set for the sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Next Generation
(1994) She made friends with Matthew McConaughey, another Hollywood
up-and-comer. Renee watched him work on a project which caught her attention.
She auditioned , and was awarded the role in Love and A.45 (1994). It was a
success that earned her the critical praise that she decided to relocate to Los
Angeles. A second role in The Whole Wide World (1996) was followed, which
brought about her big break. Cameron Crowe was busy with casting Jerry Maguire
(1996) which starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was looking at actresses like Bridget
Fonda and Marisa Tomei when he saw Zellweger's performance on The Whole Wide
World (1996). The audition was for Zellweger and was confident that he'd
discovered the perfect Dorothy Boyd. Renee then followed her enormous
popularity with a few independent films and after receiving further critical
praise She was confident enough to reenter the realm of large-budget Hollywood
films. Meryl Streep played her in One True Thing (1998). Also, she starred with
Jim Carrey in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) and began dating Carrey shortly
thereafter. Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
